Refund Policy
Each Motor Verdict report incurs a per-lookup cost from our data suppliers, so refunds work a little differently from a typical digital product. This policy sets out when you are entitled to a refund and how to request one.
1. Failed Reports
If your report fails to generate — whether because of a technical error on our side, an outage at one of our data suppliers, or because the vehicle could not be found in any of our sources — you are entitled to a full refund. Contact us within 14 days of purchase at hello@motorverdict.co.uk.
You can also retry a failed report from your dashboard at no extra cost. If the retry succeeds, the original purchase stands and no refund is due.
2. Partial Reports
A report is marked as partial when at least one of our data sources (DVLA/DVSA, Experian, UK Vehicle Data, or Percayso) failed to return results, but the others did. Partial reports still incur the full per-lookup cost, so they are generally non-refundable.
However, if the missing section was the reason you bought the report — for example, no provenance data was returned at all — contact us and we will review your case. We will refund reports where the missing data makes the report substantially useless.
3. Successful Reports
Once a report has been successfully generated and you have viewed it, it is generally non-refundable. The data is licensed from third-party providers and each report incurs a cost to us at the point of lookup, regardless of whether you go on to view it.
If you believe a successful report is substantially incomplete or inaccurate, please contact us with the details and we will review your case on its merits.
4. Duplicate Purchases
If you accidentally purchase multiple reports for the same vehicle registration, contact us and we will refund the duplicate(s). Each registration only needs one report.
5. AI Verdict Disputes
The AI verdict (Buy, Caution, or Avoid) is decision support, not a guarantee. Disagreeing with the verdict, or finding that the vehicle turned out to be in a different condition than the verdict suggested, is not in itself grounds for a refund. The underlying data is shown in full in your report so you can reach your own judgement.
6. How to Request a Refund
Email hello@motorverdict.co.uk with:
- Your report ID — the UUID at the end of the report URL in your dashboard (for example,
/reports/abc123) - The vehicle registration
- The reason for your refund request
We aim to respond within two business days. Refund decisions are at our discretion but are made in line with this policy and your statutory rights under UK consumer law.
7. Processing
Approved refunds are processed through Stripe back to your original payment method. They typically appear on your statement within 5–10 business days, depending on your card issuer. We do not refund to a different card or account than the one used to pay.
8. Statutory Rights
Nothing in this policy affects your statutory rights as a UK consumer, which may entitle you to a refund in circumstances beyond those described here. For more information, see the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and the guidance published by Citizens Advice.
