Terms of Service
These terms govern your use of Motor Verdict, a UK vehicle history report service operated by Motor Verdict. By purchasing a report or creating an account, you agree to them.
1. About Motor Verdict
Motor Verdict aggregates vehicle data from licensed third-party providers and presents it as a single report, alongside an AI-generated verdict and follow-up chat. We do not generate the underlying data ourselves. Our role is to fetch, organise, and interpret it for you.
Our data sources include:
- DVLA and DVSA — tax status and MOT history
- Experian AutoCheck — provenance, finance, theft, write-off, keeper history
- UK Vehicle Data — valuations
- Percayso — previous advert history and mileage estimation
Data is fetched from these suppliers at the point of purchase and stored as a fixed snapshot of what was returned that day.
2. Use of Reports
Each purchase entitles you to one report for one vehicle registration. Reports are provided for personal, non-commercial use in deciding whether to buy a used vehicle. You may not resell, redistribute, republish, or systematically extract data from reports. The underlying data is licensed from our suppliers and remains subject to their licence terms.
3. The AI Verdict
Each report includes an AI-generated verdict (Buy, Caution, or Avoid), a plain-English summary, positives, negatives, and suggested seller questions. You can also ask follow-up questions about the vehicle in the report chat.
The verdict is generated by a large language model that has read the same licensed data shown in your report. It is instructed not to invent facts and to trace every material claim back to a data point. However, it is decision support, not a warranty or guarantee. It can be wrong, and it cannot see the physical condition of the vehicle. Always inspect a vehicle in person and verify critical details independently before purchasing.
4. Accuracy and Limitations
We make every effort to present accurate and up-to-date information, but we cannot guarantee the completeness or accuracy of data sourced from third parties. A report may be marked as partial if one or more data sources failed to return results. Partial reports still incur the full cost of generation; see the Refund Policy for when a partial report qualifies for a refund.
Some vehicles — particularly those registered before 2001, recently imported, or with private plates that have transferred — may return limited or no data. Motor Verdict reports should be used as one input in your purchasing decision, not as the sole basis for it.
5. Payment
Reports are purchased on a one-off basis at the price displayed at checkout. There is no subscription, no recurring charge, and no account tier. All payments are processed securely through Stripe. We do not see, store, or transmit your card details — you enter them directly on Stripe's hosted checkout page.
A Stripe customer record is created for your email address so we can associate payments and process refunds. This record does not contain your card number.
6. Refunds
Refunds are governed by our Refund Policy. In short: if we cannot produce a report for your registration, you are entitled to a full refund. If a report is successfully generated, it is generally non-refundable because each report incurs a per-lookup cost from our data suppliers. See the Refund Policy for full details.
7. Account
Accounts are created from the email collected at Stripe Checkout (or a post-payment confirmation form if needed). We then email a one-time sign-in link so you can return to your reports. Clicking it signs you in. There is no password to set or remember. You do not need an account before paying.
You are responsible for keeping your email account secure and for never sharing sign-in links with anyone. A sign-in link is valid for a limited time and can only be used once, but anyone who opens it before it expires can access your account and your purchased reports. If you believe a link has been compromised, contact us immediately.
8. Data Licence Constraints
Data from our suppliers is subject to their licence terms. You agree not to scrape, bulk-download, reverse-engineer, or systematically extract data from Motor Verdict, whether by automated means or otherwise. You may not use report data to build a competing product or service.
9. Acceptable Use
You agree not to misuse the service, including by: attempting to access another user's account or reports; abusing the AI chat with unlawful, harmful, or harassing content; attempting to overload, disrupt, or reverse-engineer the service; or using the service for any unlawful purpose. We may suspend or terminate access where we believe misuse has occurred.
10. Service Availability
We aim for the service to be available continuously but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. Report generation depends on third-party data providers and AI services, both of which can experience outages or rate limits. If a report fails to generate, you can retry it from your dashboard at no extra cost, or request a refund.
11. Changes
We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms. Material changes will be communicated via email where practical.
12. Contact
If you have questions about these terms, your account, or a report, contact us at hello@motorverdict.co.uk. We aim to respond within two business days.
